我们应该为什么而读书？
1.前言：终日读书，可曾含有一滴墨
禅语说：终日吃饭，未曾咬着一粒米；终日着衣，未曾挂着一缕丝。如今，很多人已经“终日读书，未曾含着一滴墨”。
“书中自有黄金屋，书中自有颜如玉”本是过去读书人功利主义的透骨写照，千年后现代人依旧捧着书苦苦追逐。我们没少读书，但读的多是工具书、成功学、计谋论……我们只坚信“学以致用”。
读书，成了杀出重围获取高等学府的“入场券”，成了养家糊口“稻粮谋”的证书职称。毋庸讳言，现代人背负着生活重压，忙于考试，忙于工作，忙于挣钱……难得真正静心读本书，但我们能心安理得地为不读书找如此多借口，为何不找一个借口读本书？
读书本身就是一种修为，此事不关名与利。书籍不是晋身的阶梯，而是望远的城楼；不是使人生富贵的金砖，而是让心灵宁静的钟磬。
2.那些被误读的读书观
寒窗苦读只求烛影摇红？
北宋仁宗时的宋祁，是有名的史学家、文学家，与其兄庠齐名，时号“大小宋”。发迹之前，家道中落，数米为炊，无钱读书，全靠自学成才，进士及第后，当过翰林学士、工部尚书。昔日的穷小子，一朝为官，就拼命享乐，一边发出“浮生长恨欢娱少”之叹，一边过着“行乐还须年少”的奢靡浮华生活。话说宋祁功成名就后，主修《新唐书》。他命人点起两根椽木一般粗的红烛，身边侍立着美姬娇妾为他磨墨伸纸，宋祁心旷神怡之际，这才欣然命笔。
宋祁的哥哥宋郊为人谨厚，见他放纵无忌，就手书信一封，令家人转交宋祁，批评他说：“相公寄语学士，闻昨夜烧灯夜宴，穷极奢侈，不知记得某年上元同在某州学内吃斋饭时否？”宋祁见了，让家人捎话回去：“却须寄语相公，不知某年吃斋饭，是为甚底？”意思很明确，我当年吃苦中苦为什么，不就是为了今天过上人上人的生活吗？
“朝为田舍郎，暮登天子堂”，一切梦想，都可以通过科举来实现，宋祁成名之后的享受，对广大寒窗学子们的鼓舞作用，让我们是悲是喜？
苏秦锥刺股因好学更因功名
战国时代，有一个叫苏秦的读书人曾以“锥刺股”而名满天下，他曾说过这样一段话：读书人既然读了书，而又不能够以此来谋取高官和厚禄，这样的人读了再多的书又会有什么用呢？
苏秦出身农家，素有大志，曾随鬼谷子学习纵横捭阖之术多年。苏秦的功名心与个人境遇的刺激有关。他变卖家产游说秦国，结果未成功且经费用尽，只好卖掉车马仆从，徒步挑担回家，父母见其狼狈之状，公开辱骂，正在织布的妻子见他如此归来，不肯下机相见，苏秦饿得厉害，求嫂为他做饭，嫂推说无柴，不肯动手。苏秦不觉伤心落泪，感叹说：“一身贫贱，妻不以我为夫，嫂不以我为叔，母不以我为子，皆我之罪也!”
于是刻苦自励、狠下工夫，更深入地钻研有关知识，必欲获取功名而后已。苏秦后来游说成功，佩六国相印，在各国使者的护送下回了一次家乡，沿路官员设帐相迎望尘下拜，他的家人也随众郊迎，苏秦在车中问他嫂说：过去你连一顿饭也不愿为我做，为什么现在又如此恭敬呢?其嫂回答说：现在见到你地位高、金钱多，不容不敬!苏秦喟然长叹说：“世情看冷暖，人面逐高低。吾今日乃知富贵之不可少也。”穷困时受到的冷落强烈地刺激着苏秦，而荣归乡里、光宗耀祖的前程时时在吸引着他，这些因素强化了他的功名心。
铁砚磨穿是恒心也是利心
“铁砚磨穿”是一个正面、褒义的成语典故，常常被用来激励人们坚定意志，勤奋刻苦读书，但你可能想不到，它竟然是出自一个卖国求荣的汉奸。这个人就是桑维翰，字国侨，生于唐朝末年，洛阳人。
桑维翰参加进士考试，没想到主考官一看到他的姓名就顿生厌恶，早早就把他排除在外，因为“桑”与“丧”同音，不吉利。朋友们纷纷劝桑维翰今后不要再参加进士考试，可以从别的途径进入仕途。但桑维翰不为所动，慨然写下《日出扶桑赋》一文，发誓要在科举中获得功名，同时铸一铁砚展示给大家，发下狠话：“除非铁砚磨损坏了，否则决不另谋仕途。”桑维翰终于如愿以偿考中进士。
后来桑维翰是石敬瑭卖国篡位的鼎力执行者，将国土当作自己家的猪肉一般，想怎么割就怎么割。给天下遗留下了大祸患。明末清初思想家王夫之评论他：“祸及万世，则万世之罪人，自生民以来，唯桑维翰当之。”
朝为田舍郎，暮登天子堂——命运不能只寄托于读书
“请君暂上凌烟阁，若个书生万户侯”、“朝为田舍郎，暮登天子堂”——除了读书参加科举被吸纳入官僚体系，古代士人并无别的可以证明自身价值的方式。西晋时期，出身并不显赫的左思，面对门阀制度的森严壁垒，曾经痛斥“世胄蹑高位，英俊沉下僚”。但一转身，他便投身权贵贾谧怀抱，成为“二十四友”之一。
黄士俊是明万历三十五年状元。明万历三十五年丁未科状元黄士俊，家里很穷。34岁时，想进京赶考，找岳父去借路费。岳父见他衣衫褴褛，连客厅都没让他进，只给了他两个鸭蛋。岳父家的仆人可怜他，偷偷给了他一点钱。没想到，黄士俊高中头名状元，不无辛酸地给丈人写一首《鸭蛋诗》，道尽从田舍郎到登上天子堂漫漫长路上经历的冷暖和坎坷。
国人的潜意识里读书都带着功利目的，远古与现实的影子，都将读书定位在可以直接获益上。读书不是简单商品，“腹有诗书气自华”，这是对一生有益的投资。放下读书改变命运的功利心，树立读书改造心灵的荣誉心，或许，寒微的命运真的会一点一点地发生改变。
行有余力，则以学文——学会做人比读书更重要
子曰：“弟子入则孝，出则弟，谨而信，泛爱众，而亲仁。行有余力，则以学文。”孔子认为，读书并不是最重要的事。孝悌、谨信、爱众、亲仁是自幼童起就必须做的学问，如果做好这些，还有时间就用来学习文化知识（当时指古代文献或礼乐射御书数六艺）。
孔子的这些主张无疑与当今的教育现状形成鲜明的反差。试看当今之教育，孩子还在娘胎里就开始搞胎教，生下来刚会说话也许就要教孩子背唐诗、说英语，自入学开始，文化知识的学习、考试几乎成为孩子学习的全部，学校里该有的音乐、美术、劳体等课程大都也为文化课让了路，对孩子的要求，只要学习成绩好，其他的一切都可放宽。家务会不会做，父母下班回来会不会停下学习出房门迎接， 出门在外看到长辈会不会主动问候，乘公交会不会主动给老、弱、病、残、孕让座等等，这些日常的行为都可以被忽略掉，唯一不能忽略的就是考试成绩。如此看来，当前教育的主要功能似乎就是促进升学与就业。至于学生是否有健全的人格，是否有优秀的品质，是否有良好的心态，是否有广博的爱心等，都只是落实在几句教育口号中而已。
“万般皆下品，唯有读书高”——读书人最高级？
科举制是古时考试的惟一途径。唐太宗李世民看破了这种考试的实质，即以权力为诱饵把读书人终身都束缚在了仕途上。当他躲在门端处，看到新中的进士鱼贯而出时，高兴地自语道：“天下英雄人吾彀中矣！”
古时，人们想咸鱼翻身，唯一可走的路只有读书。“读书、进学、中举、得士”是古时中国读书人的老路，即“读书至上”“读书做官”。
时至今日，读书所散发出的功利味道也浓得刺鼻。转转书市，那些“名人自传、成功秘诀、考题大全、求职之道”之类的图书比比皆是，购书者如饥似渴地扫视着一行行既熟悉又陌生的文字，试图想从中寻出对于失败理直气壮的安慰，关于成功星星点点的契机；他们把人生道路中晦暗的蛰伏阶段盲目地藏于一本本当代的“武功秘籍”中，期待以后的某次一飞冲天。在没有足够的钱财可挥霍，没有显赫的权势可依傍的情况下，读书似乎是碌碌的人们改变命运的唯一途径。
“书中自有千钟粟，书中自有黄金屋，书中自有颜如玉”——书中全是人间极乐事？
宋代皇帝赵恒写道：“富家不用买良田，书中自有千锺粟；安居不用架高堂，书中自有黄金屋； 出门莫恨无人随，书中车马多如簇；娶妻莫恨无良媒，书中自有颜如玉；男儿若遂平生志。六经勤向窗前读。” 从此，黄金屋颜如玉成了千年诱惑。
《儒林外史》里的“范进中举”是一部讽刺科举制度啼笑皆非的悲喜剧。范进中举以前，穷极潦倒，到处遭人白眼；而一旦中举，情形立刻大变，吃的，穿的，用的，住的，自有人送上门来。宋人周辉《清波杂志》记载：“闽人韩南老，就恩科，有来议亲者，韩以一七绝示之：‘读尽诗文一百担，老来方得一青衫。媒人却问余年纪，四十年前三十三’。”73岁得官，还有人来议亲。还真应了书中自有千钟粟黄金屋颜如玉这句话。
殊不知书中亦有屎粪土，书中亦有岚瘴物。把读书当作飞黄腾达、攫取财富的敲门砖，书中都堆满了“黄金屋”、“千钟粟”、“颜如玉”，满纸的功利味，修养精神又从何谈起？
“十载寒窗苦，金榜题名时”——人生四喜此最难？
金榜，是中国封建社会科举考试制度中最高一级的考试，是殿试。因为它是书写在黄纸上的，所以也称黄榜。然而，那么多的读书人挤在科举这条路上，能有几个幸运儿？
宋代的晁冲之，一生好读书但未改其命运，待到晚年，他在一次黎明时分的旅途中，看见一户人家仍然闪亮着的灯光，不由地联想起了自己的身世，不禁悲由心升，感慨万千：“老去功名意转疏，独骑瘦马取长途；孤村到晓犹灯火，知有人家夜读书。”
金榜的后面是无数莘莘学子艰难苦涩、悲悲喜喜的故事。科举考试好像一架伸向云端的阶梯。从乡下考到省里，从省里考进北京，又从京城考进皇宫，过五关斩六将，一级一级往上爬。在清代，白发童生、寿星举人比比皆是，成了一道十分滑稽的风景。如康熙年间，江苏有个叫王式丹的，二十来岁就考中秀才，当他考中状元时已是59岁。十年寒窗，青灯一盏，且不说长夜漫漫浸泡了多少凄清寂寞，那一场又一场噩梦般的考试也是够人消受的。
“学而优则仕”——仕而优则弃学？
“学而优则仕”中的“优”：通“悠”，有余力，学习之余还有余力或者闲暇，就去做官。后指学习成绩优秀然后提拔当官。
“学而优则仕”与“仕而优则学”，是孔子的思想。可是不知为何，二者却遭到了厚此薄彼、畸轻畸重的不同命运。无论是作为警世名言警示之深度，还是在现实生活中实际受重视的程度，“仕而优则学”都远没有“学而优则仕”那样流传广泛。九泉之下的老夫子一定很得意：当年他对学生道出的两句劝学语竟成了千古绝唱；九泉之下的老夫子一定很失望：为什么前一句千古流芳，后一句知者寥寥。他肯定没想到自己成为“读书做官论”的鼻祖。
明代乔廷栋，进士出身，官任布政使，在御史任上“致仕”。罢官在家，仍官瘾不减，晨必具官服，升堂高坐，令仆役伏谒作控诉案情之状，乔为之一一“判案”，且每日如此，让人大有斯文扫地之叹。在乔某这类“官迷”那里，读书不过是一块名利之门的“敲门砖”。
3.体悟真正的读书观
古之学者为己，今之学者为人
子曰：古之学者为己，今之学者为人。这句话可能是孔子当时与弟子谈话时的一句感慨之言，感慨古今学风的迥异，却也是向弟子揭示学习之真谛所在。“古之学者为己”的确为的是自己，但绝不是为一己那点蝇头小利，真正为的是自身道德境界和个人修养的提高。“今之学者为人”并不是褒奖今人学习为的是苍生福祉，而是大骂今人学习是为那一官半禄，为的是与世俗面前获得自己虚荣心上的满足。孔子认为今人学习不过只是为人前的盛赞，乡里的追捧。
这两千多年前的一声嗟叹，是叹当时之社会风气，也是孔老夫子告诫学生，学习要知道其真谛。这声叹息是如次悠长，以至于这句话现在还在天际回响。古代求学之人是为了充实自己，提高修养，现代求学之人是为了装饰门面，向别人炫耀。这一语道尽当今许多学习的人身心俱疲的根源。为自家功名读书，为美女香车读书，为父母期待读书，或者为祖国富强而读书，都有点令人担忧，都会使读书变成一件悲壮的事情。应该为读书而读书，不迎合不功利，读书是为了自我提升，自我娱乐，自建筑心灵自由长堤。
博学之，审问之，慎思之，明辨之，笃行之
《礼记·中庸》十九章有云：“博学之，审问之，慎思之，明辨之，笃行之。”这说的是为学的几个层次，或者说是几个递进的阶段。
“博学之”意谓为学首先要广泛的猎取，培养充沛而旺盛的好奇心。好奇心丧失了，为学的欲望随之而消亡，博学遂为不可能之事。“博”还意味着博大和宽容。惟有博大和宽容，才能兼容并包，使为学具有世界眼光和开放胸襟，真正做到“海纳百川、有容乃大”，进而“泛爱众，而亲仁”。因此博学乃能成为为学的第一阶段。越过这一阶段，为学就是无根之木、无源之水。“审问”为第二阶段，有所不明就要追问到底，要对所学加以怀疑。问过以后还要通过自己的思想活动来仔细考察、分析，否则所学不能为自己所用，是为“慎思”。“明辩”为第四阶段。学是越辩越明的，不辩，则所谓“博学”就会鱼龙混杂，真伪难辨，良莠不分。“笃行”是为学的最后阶段，就是既然学有所得，就要努力践履所学，使所学最终有所落实，做到“知行合一”。“笃”有忠贞不渝，踏踏实实，一心一意，坚持不懈之意。只有有明确的目标、坚定的意志的人，才能真正做到“笃行”。
颜渊：不为外物所累，安贫乐道
颜渊，名回，字子渊，春秋时期鲁国人，孔子七十二贤中的翘楚。
哀公问：“弟子孰为好学？”孔子对曰：“有颜回者好学，不迁怒，不贰过，不幸短命死矣！今也则亡，未闻好学者也。”颜渊是孔子最最推崇的学生，而且尤其推崇颜渊的好学。
子曰：“贤哉回也，一箪食，一瓢饮，在陋巷，人不堪其忧，回也不改其乐。贤哉回也。”孔子此言是赞赏颜回在陋巷里以“一箪食，一瓢饮”清苦生活，然却安之若素，肯定了颜渊贫贱也可傲人的情怀和淡泊的境界，不为外物所累，以学为乐。
孔子安贫乐道，“饭疏食饮水，曲肱而枕之，乐亦在其中矣。”他并不拒绝言利，他也曾说“富与贵，是人之所欲也”。但同时也教导学生以义取利，“君子忧道不忧贫”，“不义而富且贵，于我如浮云”。
致知必须穷理，持敬则须主一
朱子读书法是古代最有影响的读书方法论。他提出“致知必须穷理，持敬则须主一”的为学原则，“敬”的本义就是恭敬，不放肆。“敬”是端正态度，意为诚心诚意兢兢业业是做好一切事情的基础，读书也不例外。
居敬要从内心中严格尊崇礼法，专一有恒，一刻也不放松对自己的要求。特别是要排除杂念，不受外界诱惑，所以“敬”又通“静”。心静自然诚，诚心诚意、兢兢业业地去学习，去做事，个人修养也就能顺利提高了。
这是教人读书必须将心收敛起来，有谨慎感，有进取心，不放纵自身，不轻率从事，做到专静纯一，志于为学。人若具有这种精神，用于应事时，就能敬于读书。只要心能用于专静纯一，不驰走散乱，自然能做到“日用动静间”，使为学之道发自内心，学起来当然要“日成日新”。
朱熹说：“立志不定，如何读书？”要立定学圣贤之道、修身复性的志向，才能真正取得成效。
学贵有疑，尽信书不如无书
陆九渊是南宋著名的主观唯心主义哲学家、教育家。他常说：“尽信书不如无书”，“为学患无疑，疑则有进”，并经常以“小疑则小进，大疑则大进”。
戴震是清代的大学者，据说他10岁时，老师教他读《大学章句》，读到一个地方，他问老师，怎么知道这是孔子所说而曾子转述的？又怎么知道这是曾子的意思而被其门人记录下来的呢？老师说，前辈大师朱熹在注释中就是这样讲的。戴震又问，朱熹是什么时候的人啊？老师说，南宋时的人。戴震再问，孔子、曾子是什么时候的人呢？老师说，东周时的人。戴震继续问，东周距南宋有多久了？老师说，差不多两千年了吧。戴震于是说，那么，朱熹是怎么知道的呢？老师无言以对。
追根究底的怀疑精神正是知性的一种表现。戴震曾指出：“学者当不以人蔽己，不以己自蔽。”他的意思是说，读书人头脑要清醒，别让人家忽悠你，也别自己蒙自己。戴震能成为一代宗师，皆因他在童年时期就表现出这样一种本能
学问之道无他，求其放心而已矣
在《四书》里，孟子曰：“学问之道无他，求其放心而已矣！”学习的目的就是为了让我们自己善良美好的真心本性在物欲横流的五欲六尘中不受污染，不被颠倒，永远保持清净，如如不动。因为只有保持清净心，才能使自己的智慧不被埋没，也才能对宇宙人生的真相了了分明。
古人说得好：“学问高时意气平。”真正有学问的人，从来不愿意卖弄学问，学问越高，待人越和气，越谦虚，胸怀若谷，大智若愚。
相传古时候有位秀才，寒窗苦读数十年，上京应考却屡试不中。有次名落孙山之后，心中苦闷，便到京郊一处寺院散心。结果遇到同窗，说起落榜之事，满腹牢骚，到后来大骂考官有眼无珠，把他这个饱读诗书的栋梁之才给耽误了。恰好有位僧人在旁，便劝他说，“我看你输的也不冤枉，因为你的确没有学问。常言道，学问高时意气平。可我在你身上一点也没有感觉到啊。如果你是一个真正有学问的人，你还会那么冲动吗？你该知道行有不得，反求诸己的道理吧。”秀才听了，低头不语。
学不至于乐，不可谓之学
北宋易学家邵雍说过：“学不至于乐，不可谓之学。” “学至于乐”，是学求自然的必然境界。学问能成一家者，都是性情中人，学问在他们是自然的发挥，是合于天性的施展。
元人翁森以春夏秋冬为题，歌咏读书乐趣和情调的《四时读书乐》，是一首优美的情致高尚的劝学诗，宣扬的是读书的高雅情趣，不以功名利禄为引诱。
《春》山光拂槛水绕廊，舞雩归咏春风香。好鸟枝头亦朋友，落花水面皆文章。蹉跎莫遣韶光老，人生唯有读书好。读书之乐乐何如？绿满窗前草不除。《夏》修竹压檐桑四围，小斋幽敞明朱晖。昼长吟罢蝉鸣树，夜深烬落萤入帏。北窗高卧羲皇侣，只因素谂读书趣。读书之乐乐无穷，瑶琴一曲来薰风。《秋》昨夜前庭叶有声，篱豆花开蟋蟀鸣。不觉商意满林薄，萧然万籁涵虚清。近床赖有短檠在，对此读书功更倍。读书之乐乐陶陶，起弄明月霜天高。《冬》木落水尽千岩枯，迥然吾亦见真吾。坐对韦编灯动壁，高歌夜半雪压庐。地炉茶鼎烹活火，四壁图书中有我。读书之乐何处寻？数点梅花天地心。
4.读书本是情性事
有书真富贵，无事小神仙
“有书真富贵，无事小神仙。”这是清末宣统年间监国摄政王载沣在辞去摄政王之职后，在王府鉴意轩所写的一副对联。生性淡泊、忠厚懦弱的载沣在归隐后只有“身安茅庐隐，性定菜根香”的想法。也许在和平时代，他可以做一个无忧无虑的太平王爷，但世事弄人，在风雨飘零的清末最后三年里，他幸运地世袭为醇亲王，也正是由于王爷的特殊身份，时势又把他推上了历史舞台，让他扮演了一位既无力回天又无可奈何的大清王朝替罪羔羊的角色——摄政王！
“有书真富贵，无事小神仙”。这里说的“书”，不是一般的书本，而是指学问、知识、修养和才华。这里所说的“事”也不是一般的事情或事业，而是指是非、心思、贪图或奢望。意思是：有学识才是富贵，无是非才会快乐。
书使人的精神世界富有了，不再像饿汉那样耸肩缩头在别人面前丢人现眼。“有书”的人如果能读书有得就会像衣食无忧的富贵人那样，走在路上没有一种魂不守舍找不到自己家的流浪汉感觉。而没有精神家园的人，是没有归属感的人。在精神世界里找不到自己的落脚点，即使腰缠万贯也免不了跟风吃屁，形单影只。
书似青山常乱叠，灯如红豆最相思
“书似青山常乱叠，灯如红豆最相思”，书似青山，层层叠叠，风光无限，赏味不尽；灯如红豆，燃烧摇曳，照彻心房，最起相思。当然也可以说青山似书，看山、读山可知历史人生；红豆如灯，晶莹明亮，激人心怀热望，均是美好和恒久不变之象征。在如红豆之灯下，读似青山之书，应该是人生最有情味的时候。“在书的世界中，“颜如玉”是存在的，“黄金屋”也是存在的，时不分古今，地不分远近，物不分类别，读书是心灵的旅行。
那泛黄的旧照片一般的书，带我走回一段历史，一个已经退色的故事，仿佛一个逃离了时光追逐的遗民，一本好书有如这样的经历一般引人思索，品味。还有那散发油墨清香的字，美丽的字，犹如一朵朵吐蕊的墨梅，绽放在一行行，一列列，姿态万千，如同一首美丽的诗，明亮而不刺眼，美丽而又内敛，“只留清气满乾坤”，心也随之晴朗起来。
纸屏石枕竹方床，手倦抛书午梦长
“纸屏石枕竹方床，手倦抛书午梦长”出自宋朝蔡确七言绝句《夏日登车盖亭》。作者高卧水亭，酣然入梦，醒后听见数声渔笛，认为自己的闲逸与渔家的身居江湖已很接近，所以独自发笑。诗中的“手倦抛书”，形容入睡情态，“睡起莞然成独笑”，写睡后悠然自得的感觉，特别是独自哑然失笑，都写得形象入微。
“手倦抛书午梦长”一句代表了闲适安逸的心情和一种悠闲自乐读书心态。无一丝功利心，不为流行所左右，耕耘自我心中的田地，不染一丝尘俗气。
书里的乾坤逆转，驰骋千里豪情万状。意的是眼睛的贪婪，恨不能一目十行，又在薄薄下去的页面里怅然，独独可以忘记的就是时光.背是舒适的，不会跌倒在岁月的荆棘里，软和的靠垫支撑着身体最坚强而又随着时光的蹉跎最容易和你叫板的腰椎,你可以从武侠的颠峰坠落，欲狂呼间安然抵达现实。时光可以很安然地蜷伏在书页的那一面，不想离开。那种恬适，没有再美的了
书卷多情似故人，晨昏忧乐每相亲
“书卷多情似故人，晨昏忧乐每相亲。眼前直下三千字，胸次全无一点尘。活水源流随处满，东风花柳逐时新。金鞍玉勒寻芳客，未信我庐别有香。” 这首诗名字叫《观书》，盛赞书之好处，极写读书之趣，作者于谦，是明代著名民族英雄、诗人。他生性刚直，博学多闻。他的勤学苦练精神与他的高风亮节一样名传后世。
诗的首联用拟人手法，将书卷比作多情的老朋友，每日从早到晚和自己形影相随、愁苦与共，形象地表明诗人读书不倦、乐在其中。颔联用夸张、比喻手法写诗人读书的情态。一眼扫过三千字，非确数，而是极言读书之多之快，更表现诗人读书如饥似渴的心情。胸无一点尘，是比喻他胸无杂念。
这两句诗使诗人专心致志，读书入迷的情态跃然纸上，也道出了一种读书方法。读书可以明理，可以赏景，可以观史，可以鉴人，真可谓是思接千载，视通万里，这美好之情之境，岂是玩物丧志的游手好闲者流所有以领略的！
不是爱书即欲死，任从人笑作书癫
“不是爱书即欲死，任从人笑作书癫。”来自陆游《寒夜读书》，很多读书人不为名利，只求自乐。如马枢“博极经史，……乃喟然叹曰：‘吾闻贵爵位者以巢、由为桎梏，爱山林者以伊、吕为管库，束名实则刍芥柱下之言，玩清虚则糠秕席上之说。’乃隐于茅山，有终焉之志”。（《陈书》）阳城“好学，贫不能得书，求为吏隶集贤院，窃院书读之，昼夜不出户六年，无所不通，及进士第，乃去隐中条山”。（《唐书》）刘勉之“即邑近郊结草为堂，读书其中，力耕自给，澹然无求于世”。（《宋史》）
他们安贫乐道，澹然自守，耽于书籍，赏奇析疑，衣带渐宽，终老不悔。以一种隐逸和逍遥来摆脱现实的束缚，追求内在的、主观上的精神自由。
他们抛开功利，在坎坎人生旅途上构筑自己的精神家园，建立起一种精致高雅并富有审美意味的生活环境和生活模式，并陶醉其间，达到“天地与我并生，万物与我齐一”的自由境界。
富不读书纵有银钱身何贵，贫而好学虽无功名志气高
读书者，即使“斯是陋室”也会“惟吾德馨”，精神充实，乐观开朗；不读书者，即使身处豪宅，也只能沦为金钱的傀儡，物质的玩偶，精神的“病猫”。
清代文学家王国维把读书总结为三种境界，也就是三个阶段。第一个阶段是“昨夜西风雕碧树，独上高楼，望尽天涯路”；第二个阶段是“衣带渐宽终不悔,为伊消得人憔悴”；第三个阶段是“众里寻他千百度，蓦然回首，那人却在灯火阑珊处”。但是，这种读书的动机，仍然是建立在功利基础上的。就是说读书的目的，不过是为了成就一番事业。
多少人皓首穷经，临了还要步入科场。如果事业有成就会青云直上；如其不然,则可能堕入孔乙己的下场。其实，读书的最高境界，莫过于无欲，所谓无欲就是不带任何功利。然无功利读书何其难也！如果一定要找个目的，那就是充实自己。这样的读书生活,是最自由的，最轻松的，也是最快乐的。你可以在书的海洋中逍遥自在的漫游，就像庄子说的，达到一种“逍遥遊”的状态。
5.读书是一剂良药
欣悦享乐——每有会意，便欣然忘食
“养心莫善寡欲，至乐无如读书”意思就是说要想修养心灵的最好的办法就是清心寡欲，世上没有比读书更快乐的事了。
五柳先生说：每有会意，欣然忘食，这种乐趣是吸引人的，不为外物所滞，而求于内心的乐趣。有时读书的乐趣可以用放浪来形容，有些书读过了以后，也许我们会手舞足蹈呢。
宋代大文学家曾巩在《读书》诗中生动地展示了读书的情趣：“南山对尘案，相摩露青。百鸟听徘徊，忽如来凤凰。乃知千载后，坐可见虞唐。”作者长时间伏案读书，摩挲不已，竟然会抹去日夜相对的南山的灰尘，使其露出青苍的山色。在这样的环境中读书，细心体味古人言论的高妙，宛如聆听百鸟悦耳的鸣叫。此情此景，好不让人高兴！
“读死书，死读书”，不去探索研究，读书就成了件苦差事。但如果读书是为了追求真理，越靠近真理，就会越觉得“读书乐，乐在其中。”所以古人读书有不思茶饭，流连忘返者。读不罢则食不甘者。孔子读书，“不知老将至”，陶渊明读书，可以昼夜不息。白居易读书，口舌生疮。由此可见“乐读书”的魅力。
安身立命——立身以立学为先，立学以读书为本
“立身以立学为先，立学以读书为本”。早在北宋年间，大文学家欧阳修就提出这样的观点。
现今世道人心沉溺至极，故感天灾人祸亦频数之极。若不端正心念，回归伦常道德，以正气涤荡人心，则日下一 日，莫能救矣！社会中人们越来越失去自我而成为空心人，体验冰凉彻骨的虚无感，飘飘何所似，天地一沙鸥，正是这种虚无感的真实写照。
人的一生是有限的，直接向别人学习的经验也是有限的，但是通过读书间接向别人学习则是趋于无穷的。读古人之书好比与先贤对话，读今人之书好比与智者交谈。阅读一本书，可以打开一个崭新的世界，可以深入一个人的内心，可以站在世界的制高点。
启智明理——问渠哪得清如许，为有源头活水来
“问渠哪得清如许，为有源头活水来”.来自朱熹的《观书有感》。借水之清澈，是因为有源头活水不断注入，暗喻人要心灵澄明，就得认真读书，时时补充新知。池塘并不是一泓死水，而是常有活水注入，因此像明镜一样，清澈见底，映照着天光云影。这种情景，同一个人在读书中搞通问题、获得新知而大有收益颇为相似。
人们常说：“知书达礼”，达礼是一个人外在气质的体现，而知书则是达礼的前提。一个看起来颇有气质的人，如果一开口说话，漏洞百出，对什么事都是一知半解，或者一问三不知，其气质定会大打折扣。
古语道“久假不归”，我们虽然处在信息时代，但我们却经常被蒙蔽。这种蒙蔽有时来自于外界，我们因为长期生活在这样的环境中而不自觉的就相信了。但更多的是自己蒙蔽了自己，因为懒惰而不想突破，不更新思想就会受蒙蔽，而广泛的阅读显然有助于摆脱受蒙蔽的状态。
阅历沉淀——博观而约取，厚积而薄发
“博观而约取，厚积而薄发。”出自苏轼的《稼说送张琥》。这里“博观”指大量的看书，多多阅读，了解事物；“约取”指少量的慢慢地拿出来。“厚积”指大量地、充分地积蓄；“薄发”指少量地、慢慢地放出。
古今学界有识之士，治学都很注重“博观而约取”。观而有选，取而有择，有的放矢，唯真是取。唐代韩愈，在《原道》中批评有些人读书作文，“择焉而不精，语焉而不详”。王安石提倡：读书要“深思而慎取”。
英国文学家柯尔律治有“读书四喻”，他说：有的人“像滤豆浆的布袋，豆浆都流了，留下的是豆渣”；有的人“好像是计时的沙漏，注进水，流出来，到头来一点疤痕也没留下”；有的人“像海绵什么都吸收，挤一挤，流出来的东西原封不动，甚至还弄脏了些”；还有的人“像是宝石矿床的苦工，把矿渣甩在一边，只捡纯净宝石”。此喻形象贴切，给人启迪。有些人读书不懂“约取”之道，或如“布袋”，取粗去精；或如“沙漏”，不留痕迹；或如“海绵”，啥都吸收。如此阅读，效果可想而知。我们读书应当像宝石矿的苦工那样，辨明瑕玉，甩掉“矿渣”，只取宝石。
修身养性——最是书香能致远，腹有诗书气自华
“最是书香能致远”出自苏轼《和董传留别》，人的气质需要书的滋养，读书是锻造一个人外在气质的根基。
读书为已，使人修养身心，明理睿智。古人云：流水之声可以养耳，青禾绿草可以养目，观书译理可以养心。
黄庭坚说三日不读书，便觉语言无味，面目可憎，我相信读书能改变人的气质，林语堂的解释是读书使人得到一种优雅和风味。善读书，如入芝兰之室，久而不闻其香，而香却在骨里。
现实生活纷繁复杂，尤其是在物欲膨胀的今天，久处其中的人们，难免会因琐屑小事而迷了心志、乱了头脑。此时就不妨静下心来，读一读先贤、智者们的智慧结晶，在阅读中理清纷繁的思绪，明确人生的奋斗目标。
颐养心力——故读书可以增长道心，为颐养第一事也
清朝张英《聪训斋语》说：“故读书可以增长道心，为颐养第一事也。”这是从见多世事、平衡心态上着眼。其实这一点也得到科学研究的证实，经常读书用脑的人，他的脑力衰减，较之不爱读书、不善动脑的人，要慢得多，这就证明读书是最好的心理调节，最好的养生之道。
人之长寿有赖于养生，而养生之道不一而足，鉴古知今，读书或为其一种欤？中国有一句俗话，叫“书寿长于人寿”，这有两重意义。从心理角度理解。人应该多读好书，人把心思多花在读书上，就能排除一切杂念或邪念。思想变得比较纯洁、品德显得比较高尚、人也变得宽宏大度，从而具有仁爱之心。古人有“仁者寿”的普遍经验。如此看来，多读书的人往往更容易成为仁者，因而也更容易长寿。
明朝郑成功为自己题写一副自勉联：“养心莫善寡欲，至乐无如读书。”以“寡欲养心”，“读书至乐”，阐明养身的道理。读书既可以获得知识，增长智慧与才干，又可以使大脑得到运动。读书，可以延缓大脑衰老，保持思维活跃，有利于身心健康。
6.千卷书，如何读？
读书三上：马上、厕上、床上
“余生平所作文章，多在三上：乃马上，枕上，厕上。”说这句话的是宋代文学家欧阳修。原文大意是钱思公虽然出身富贵之家，但是没什么嗜好。在西京洛阳曾经告诉僚属，说这一生只喜欢读书，坐着的时候就读经史，躺在床上就读各种杂记，上厕所的时候就读词典、小令。大概从来没有半刻离开书的时候。谢希深也说： 同在史院的宋公垂，每当去厕所都夹着书，诵读的声音清脆，远近都能听到，也是如此的好学。我于是告诉希深，说：我平生所作的文章，多在三上，就是马上、枕上、厕上。大概只有此等之处可以构思吧。
伫立街头看步履匆匆，浮躁的社会生活似乎无法让人们停歇一下，我常常在想，我们现如今出门坐汽车，上楼坐电梯，从一个城市到另一个城市可以坐飞机，与古代的人们相比不知我们节省了多少时间！可是节省的那些时间跑到什么地方去了？时代的发展、世界距离的缩短使得我们的个人空间充斥了太多的人和事，有太多的世事烦扰分散了我们的精力，以至于静下心来好好地读本书成了一种奢望。
汪国真曾经在一篇文章中写道：会读书的人和不会读书的人有一个主要的区别，前者“雁过拔毛”，后者“一毛不拔”。读书对于繁忙的人们来讲是一种休息，而对于闲暇的人们来说，读书更应该是一种工作。
旧书不厌百回读，熟读深思子自知
宋代大文豪苏轼曾说过：“旧书不厌百回读，熟读深思子自知。”神宗熙宁三年（1070），二十八岁的安敦，以秀才的身份参加了乡试，其结果是“失解西归”。这首虽是宋朝苏东坡赠给安敦的诗，但内容对每个人都是有益的。原诗旨在劝慰、鼓励安敦莫以中举为念,而要去追求知识本身的价值;先贤的典籍中蕴藏着的无穷学问,“熟读深思”自能领悟。
精读是我国传统的读书方法之一。关于精读，古代文献中也有不少记载。如田敏认为“读书不必多，十八章足矣”。（《宋史》）何涉“案上惟置一书，读之自首至尾，正错校字，以至读终。未终卷，誓不他读”。（《明道杂志》）苏轼“吾读《汉书》，盖数过而始尽之，如治道、人物、地理、官制、兵法、货财之类，每一过博求一事，不待数过，而事事精核矣”。（《田居乙记》）确实，对于一些名篇，学习价值高，内容精粹，言简意赅，非精读不能掌握全书的要点、难点。古人所说的“读书百遍，其义自见”就是这个意思。
读书讲究意境：读易松间，谈经竹下
古人读书讲究氛围，甚至还规定出要在什么时节读什么书才合“时宜”：“读经宜冬，其神专也；读史宜夏，其时久也；读诸子宜秋，其致别也；读诸集宜春，其机畅也”。 “惜书”也是一种对书本的尊敬。 据史料记载，《资治通鉴》的作者司马光「惜书」如命，每次看书之前，他都会反复的擦洗桌面，除净灰尘，铺上薄毯，然后才肯把书平放在上面毕恭毕敬地阅读。每看完一页，他都会先用大拇指轻轻地捏起书边，再慢慢地一翻而过，几十年如是。凡是他读过的书，毫无褶皱的痕迹。
古人读书，要么庄重迂腐之极，读书之前要沐浴焚香，清心敛欲，泡上一杯清茶，在茶香袅袅中，把情绪酝酿得极其饱满，然后端坐书室。
古人读书，要么浪漫得不着边际，红袖添香夜伴读，是多少古代读书人奢侈的梦想？柳衣蝶影，举案齐眉，是何等浪漫的意境。古人读书想必清苦之极：不为兴趣，只为功名，漫漫长夜，孤灯清影，独对黄卷，难免会瞌睡困倦。于是幻想着有美人在旁侍读，可助读兴，正像古时的皇帝进餐，有歌舞助兴一样，正谓秀色可餐。红袖添香夜伴读，这短短的几个字营造出的美妙意境。
知行合一：行万里路，读万卷书
古人都把“读万卷书，行万里路”作为一种追求。因为二者都能使人开阔眼界，增长知识和能力。体现的哲学思想是“知行合一”。
在早期哲学思想里，主张“吾日三省吾身”，以思为主，也以读书为主。但是慢慢地人们发现光读书不能解决实际生活中的很多问题。宋代陆游《冬夜读书示子聿》 中说，“纸上得来终觉浅，绝知此事要躬行。”正是这一思想的表述。
春秋战国时代名将赵奢的后代赵括。自幼熟读兵书，对很多兵法都非常了解，而且他“夸夸其谈”，特别擅长表达，将当时的国王说得都深以为然。但是在实际战争中，却一战而败。这说明从纸上，从书上得来的东西，是不完全可靠的。真正有效的东西，一定要从实践中得来。所以说纸上谈兵是无效的，而读万卷书，行万里路，将知识与实践结合起来，知行合一，格物致知，才是最好的学习和实践的方法。
少年读书如隙中窥月，中年读书如庭中望月，老年读书如台上玩月
清代文学家张潮在总结阅读感受时说：“少年读书如隙中窥月，中年读书如庭中望月，老年读书如台上玩月”。讲的是少年读书好像是在门缝中看月亮，自己渺小，月亮大又圆，对月亮充满了向往，觉得月亮很神奇；人到中年以后，就好像在自己家的庭院里面望月亮，背手望月，对月亮充满亲切之感，充满着自信；到了老年，就好像在台上玩月，所谓玩月就是与月亮“互动”，你觉得月亮就在自己的把握之中，自己的人生经历与所读书的内容相交融，这是阅读的最高境界即从容的人生。
结论是“皆以阅历之深浅，为所得之深浅耳。” 等阅历慢慢增添，耐心等待可以把玩文字和文字背后的人生的时刻。读书需要浏览，需要“好读书不求甚解”，可是更多的时候，读书需要智慧，需要自我全身心的投入，需要用尽自己的心思去理解和剖析文字背后的涵义。用一句话概括就是“读书需用意”。
红袖添香读闲书，雪夜闭门读禁书，秉烛执酒读奇书
古人有“红袖添香读闲书，雪夜闭门读禁书，秉烛执酒读奇书”的说法。闲书、禁书和奇书的背后没有功名利禄的引诱，有的只是兴趣。一位伟人说过，兴趣才是最好的老师。兴趣让阅读变得随心所欲，变得愉快轻松。于是，凡大家手笔，百姓物语，人生百味，奇谈怪趣，随手抓来一把，读之，也能真正神游期间，出神入化。
一厥宋词，一首唐诗，在碧波潋滟中流转；一弯黛眉，一袭水袖，在风来尘往里飘舞。寻觅古人的淡然心境，一支玉笛吹散唐风，吹落宋韵；一把古筝弹落风尘，拨动水韵。从江南的夜灯初上，到太湖的波涛浪涌。簇拥着浓浓的情、深深的恋和袅袅的云烟，如白纱轻荡，钟声悠扬。依在闲书堆里，品读所有盛放的绚丽。翻开书页，便宛若打开了一扇古朴厚重的门。这个时候，仿佛觉得，黑夜，长路，即使再微弱的虚光亦映出一生的影子、温暖短暂的一季，是一种遥远，一种信念，一种永恒。
记得池莉在她的《买酒记》一文的开头说：“我最敬畏的物事有一种，便是闲书。”当然，她所说的“闲书”，绝不是无聊闲扯的书，而是那种“笔痴”文人身闲心闲岁月闲时将日子信手拈来而成、清静自然的“真正的闲书”。 闲时读闲书，是人生一大享受。
读书不做笔记，犹如雨点落入大海，无踪无迹
元末著名学者陶宗仪，避乱江华亭时，躬耕于田野，累了便坐在树下歇息、读书。每有所感，就取出随身带来的笔砚，在树叶上记下来，并将树叶笔记放入准备好的陶罐中，埋入树下。经过十余年的积累，竟有树叶笔记数陶罐。后经加工整理，终成颇有学术价值的《辍耕录》。
南北朝时的任未，外出求学时无钱住客店，便在树林里搭个小茅棚住，然后削荆条为笔，以树汁为墨水，读书做学问。因买不起纸张，便把书中的文句写在树干上，等有钱买到纸后再抄录下来，后人将任未做「树干笔记」的这片树林称为「经苑」。宋代诗人梅尧臣，外出时总少不了带上一个小布袋，每当读到佳句妙语，就把它们写在纸片上，然后投入小布袋中。做学问时，便从小布袋中取出所记的纸条，或予以引用，或启发思维，终成一位出色的诗人。
记忆，对于积累知识是重要的，但是不能迷信记忆。俗话说：“最淡的墨水，也胜过最强的记忆。”
7.结语：找回曾经的书卷飘香
“立身以立学为先，立学以读书为本”、“吾生也有涯，而知也无涯”等古训可谓无人不知。而在这个盛行文化快餐的时代，流行“以最快的速度获取信息，再以更快的速度将它遗忘”，比如“短小精悍”的微博盛行——人们更乐于用短短数十秒的时间去获取百余字的信息，由此，需要静心凝神才能完成的阅读过程，似乎显得“不合时宜”了。
与当下纷繁的生活相对照的，是人们对精神世界空虚的抱怨。面对普遍存在的浮躁之气，阅读是治疗此疾的绝佳方法。捧好书一本，寻静谧一隅，在沁人的书香中沉潜于心，读到精彩处，或耳热心跳，或神游四方，或醍醐灌顶，或掩卷深思……阅读的节奏控制自如，阅读过后回味良久，受益无穷。阅读是一种能够培养的习惯，习惯一旦养成，静心便不再是难事。
既然如此，与其在消费快餐文化过后惴惴然，不如走进书香的世界，去享受阅读带来的充实与快乐。书香常伴，趁我们的眼睛还清亮，鬓发尚未成霜，让“人生”这本书变得墨香缕缕，书香怡人。
